hoLy smokes

we have had such a busy month! so here's the synopsis...
last sunday was our 1 year anniversary (I KNOW! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?) so we went up to the coast to monterey and then drove down the 1. we had SUCH a great time together. truly, such a blessing to be married to your best friend. we've heard that the first year is the hardest...um, well, then bring on the rest. we love being married and the adventures that life brings! Unfortunately, i forgot to bring the video camera and we discovered half way up there that my camera wasn't going to cooperate. you have to hold it very precisely to get it to work at all, so the pictures aren't that great, but here are a few...

We went to the monterey bay aquarium and had bubba gump shrimp for lunch. super fun.

Then we hit up hearst castle on the way down. SO pretty to see. so random, but apparently back in the day, he had a zoo there...and when they got rid of all the animals, there were a herd of zebra still there, so they still live on the property...just hang out amongst the cows. CRAZY! we didn't get to see them, but the locals thought this was just normal and couldn't figure out why i was freaking out about it...

yeah, can't beat this coastline...

apparently william hearst was a HUGE antique collector so when he built his house, he built it not only to look like historical but he also incorporated real historical stuff into the structure. those are real columns from roman history...can't remember who was the emperor... but stuff like this was ALL over the place. it was cool to hear the stories!

so sunday night we get home and decide to follow tradition and eat a piece of our cake. i asked dave "um, why are we supposed to do this? why would you eat a piece of cake that is a year old?"

his response... "well, if you made it this far, you deserve a little treat?" perfectly logical, don't you think? suprisingly, the cake was yummy...and we ate more than the bite we ate on our wedding day. haha. here's to the happiest year of our lives thus far.

further back...

my dad and i chaperoned jordy's class on a field trip to the bodies exhibit in balboa park. SUPER cool! so fun to see and especially to hang out with the jordster. we learned a lot about how our bodies work. SO amazing. the grand designer sure was amazing.

even further back, grandpa ron and his new wife anne were driving through so they came by to see us and go to lunch. it was so much fun to get to spend time with anne and grandpa. jordy was enthralled by their little dog. we had a great time...and some great lunch. i think they have a new favorite restaurant...and finally...say hello to the newest member of the kunz family. :) can you guess why we often refer to him as "carpet." he's super cute and getting more and more comfortable in our family every day. :)sorry for the long post. have a happy weekend!

You're supposed to tell us when you're visiting! We're not that far from Monterey. Next time (not your anniversary, of course), we'll meet you there for ... food? Know a great seafood place right in town.
